DMX began rapping in the latter part of the 1990s. He released his debut The album It's Hot in the year 1998 and Hell is DARK on May 19, 1998. Among his other albums were... and there was x. The Great Depression Year of the Dog... and then there was x, the Great Depression Year of the Dog... Redemption of the Beast Gran Champ and Flesh of Blood Flesh. In 2001, he was nominated for the Grammy Award in the Best Rap Album Category. The album titled...And then there was X. Apart from his rap activities, he has also been featured in films like Lords of the Street Belly Top Five Exit Wounds That Will Never Die Alone The Bleeding Romeo must die Backstage Beyond the Law Lockjaw Rise of the Kulev Serpent and Fast and Fierce Death Race.
